I am a freelance film critic, editor, curator, and programmer based in Berlin. Since 2004, I have been part of the editorial board of Altyazı, an independent film magazine in Turkey that has long served as a critical platform for thinking and writing about film.
I also co-founded the Altyazı Cinema Association in 2019, where I worked as project manager and now continue as a board member. Within the association, I co-stablish Altyazı Fasikül, a platform dedicated to questions of censorship and artistic freedom. Through digital publishing, video series, public programs, and collective workshops, our work seeks to create spaces for conversation, resistance, and creative engagement.
Alongside these, I have authored numerous essays and book chapters, collaborated with film festivals and cultural institutions, and designed, coordinated, and led workshops and educational programs in different contexts.
After moving to Berlin in 2022 with a scholarship, I have continued to work independently across different roles, currently as a member of the selection committee for feature-length documentaries at Kassel Dokfest, while also collaborating on various film and cultural projects.
Also, I am working on the new video series of Altyazı Fasikül focused on the intersection of justice and image-making. Through my collaboration with antenna.berlin, I am trying to expand this work into a transnational frame, exploring how counter-forensic methodologies and collective image practices can speak to each other across geographies.
